PitchFest25: Celebrating Innovation on the Central Coast
Santa Barbara’s entrepreneurial community came together for an exciting evening of innovation, competition, and connection at PitchFest25, Ventech’s annual startup pitch competition.
Held at the Cabrillo Pavilion, PitchFest25 brought hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders, and community members together to hear from four promising Central Coast startups. Each company took the stage to share its vision, showcase its solution, and make the case for what comes next.
Meet the PitchFest25 Finalists
This year’s competition featured four companies tackling challenges across healthcare, technology, community, and safety:
Cadense — Developing innovative footwear designed to help people with walking disabilities move more naturally and confidently.
CastleLock Corporation — Developing biometric safety technology designed to provide rapid firearm access while helping prevent unauthorized use.
Umi — A community-focused platform designed to make it easier for people to meet, connect over shared interests, and build meaningful relationships in the real world.
VizualEyes — Developing stereoscopic 3D vision systems designed to improve ergonomics and advance care through digital imaging technology, with an initial focus on dentistry.
The competition gave each founder an opportunity to present their company in front of an engaged audience and experienced judges while demonstrating the range of ideas and talent emerging from the Central Coast startup ecosystem.
And the Winners Are...
After an impressive round of pitches, Cadense took home the judges’ top prize.
Led by CEO Tyler Susko, Cadense is addressing a challenge faced by millions of people with walking disabilities. The company’s innovative footwear is designed to improve mobility by allowing wearers to move more naturally across everyday surfaces.
The audience had a chance to weigh in as well, selecting CastleLock Corporation as the Audience Choice winner.
Together, the results reflected what makes PitchFest such an exciting event: different ideas, industries, and approaches all sharing one stage and giving the community a firsthand look at the innovation happening throughout our region.
More Than a Pitch Competition
PitchFest is about more than choosing a winner.
It’s an opportunity to bring founders face-to-face with investors, operators, mentors, and members of the broader business community. For attendees, it offers a look inside the startup process: how founders communicate their vision, identify a market opportunity, respond to questions, and turn an idea into a company.
For the entrepreneurs on stage, it provides something equally valuable: visibility, feedback, connections, and an opportunity to tell their story in front of a community invested in seeing local innovation succeed.
PitchFest25 also marked an exciting year for the event itself, generating Ventech’s strongest pre-event ticket sales since 2017 and filling the Cabrillo Pavilion with incredible energy from the Central Coast business and technology community.
Building the Central Coast Startup Community
Events like PitchFest25 are at the heart of Ventech’s mission to build connections, educate, and inspire at the intersection of business, technology, and entrepreneurship.
The ideas presented on stage may have been very different, but the founders shared something important: the willingness to identify a problem, build something new, and put that vision in front of a room full of people.
Congratulations to Cadense, CastleLock Corporation, Umi, and VizualEyes for an outstanding PitchFest25, and thank you to the judges, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and everyone who joined us for the evening.
We’re proud to help create a place where Central Coast entrepreneurs can share bold ideas, make meaningful connections, and take the next step in building what’s next.
We’ll see you at the next PitchFest!
